Risk management is a fundamental part of decision making across all Council activities. Council and its Officers must consider the risks associated with each decision and how these decisions may impact achievement of Council's objectives.

To support this, Council regularly reviews its risk management approach to confirm it remains aligned with best practice. This ensures a clear understanding of current risks, supports informed decision making and enables opportunities to be pursued responsibly within Council’s agreed risk appetite to achieve its strategic goals.

On 25 May 2026, Council resolved to place a draft Revised Risk Management Framework on public online exhibition.

Proposed changes

In line with the NSW Office of Local Government’s Risk Management and Internal Audit for Local Government Guidelines, the Framework is due for its scheduled three-year review and re-adoption. We have assessed the current policy against the model policy in the Guidelines and made some updates and administrative improvements. No significant or material amendments have been made.
