We’re planning upgrades along Military Road from near Marne Street to Olympic Boulevard, Port Kembla, and want to check in with our community that we got the designs right before we move to construction.
These upgrades are focused on making it safer and easier to walk, ride, and move around, strengthen the link between Port Kembla Town Centre and Port Kembla Beach and improve access to local open spaces, including King George V Park. We're focused on creating a calmer, slower street environment for everyone.
What is being proposed?
- A new 3 metre wide shared user path along Military Road (from near Marne Street to Olympic Boulevard)
- Three continuous footpath treatments on the western side of Military Road at:
- Second Avenue
- Lane 104
- First Avenue
- Two new and upgraded pedestrian refuge crossings at:
- Sulva Street
- Olympic Boulevard
- A new protected pedestrian and cyclist refuge crossing
- New street tree plantings along the pathway
